What if they don’t like me?
Are they listening to me?
Have I bored them to tears?
What if I forget what to say?!
Yup I totally get that too!
Last week I spoke at back-to-back events with a brand new talk.
It can be nerve-wracking when you are presenting a new topic for the first time. How will the audience react? Well, there’s only one way to find out!
Here’s how it went:
I was up there, doing my thing, making a few jokes … scariest moment ever with a new talk…will they laugh?
I got a few chuckles…but I was noticing a real hush in the room and all eyes were really on me.
I was thinking, ‘Wow, what a polite audience’.
There was not a lot of movement or head nodding, not even any shuffling or yawning (which is always a sure sign to get the hell off the stage!)…and then a thought flashed before me…. ‘They are quiet because they hate me!’
Know what I mean?
But then something amazing happened.
As I was giving away my free training and offering a 1:1 consult with me, for the first 25 (out of 300 attendees), there was this MAD rush to the stage!
Over 100 people ran to the stage to be one of the 25! They were practically throwing the forms at me! It was my Justin Bieber moment and I felt like a rock star!!

What happened? Well they were actually listening to me. Quiet doesn’t mean bored. It means they were paying attention and so focused on me and my message.
Awesome, right?
Never underestimate the power of your message.
Give it all you’ve got and follow through to the end with a bang.
