Stop Whining and Start Spending

How many times a month… a week… a day… do you hear yourself saying “I can’t afford that”?

Money. We can’t stop thinking about it yet it’s something we never have enough of. Or so you keep thinking.

My coach, Suzanne Evans, drills this into our heads and I am going to drill it into yours. Every 60 days I get the pleasure of going to California or Florida to meet with my fellow coaches and Suzanne and her team. And one thing we keep hearing at these events is that:
When you stay in the, “I CAN’T AFFORD IT” MODE, YOU WILL NEVER, EVER, EVER MOVE YOUR BUSINESS FORWARD.  EVER.

I want to be really clear on this. We have an automatic response that says we can’t do something. But when that very thing we say we can’t do comes up, we absolutely MUST DO. Which is to spend money to build a business. So why do most people trigger their default button and tell me that can’t afford me? Because they are too friggin’ scared to put serious skin in the game.  These are the folks that absolutely need to have me.

So I ask you; If your business is not where you want it to be, what the heck are you doing about it? How is that working for you? Blood, sweat and tears and hiring your best friend’s cousin Jimmy to do your website for a really good deal, only gets you so far. If I offend, I mean to. Because you need to know the cold hard facts about what it means to be in business.

So now let me share with you some honest, real truth. Yeah, cuz I haven’t been in your face enough yet. If you’re constantly telling yourself you can’t afford things or you don’t have the money, then guess what? You’re not going to have any money! It’s not forward thinking. It’s just not true and you’re holding yourself and your business back.

If you keep repeating this mantra it’s suddenly truer than you’d ever want it to be. When you use the word “can’t,” you’re acting as if you’re not in control of your own situation, and so you limit your possibilities.

So take back control. Go for a week without saying anything about not being able to afford something.  What have you got to lose?  Replace that negative statement with another more abundant statement for just a week, and you’ll see a change.

Our brains can’t separate what we say from what we think. So as long as you keep telling your brain you can’t afford things, your subconscious is going to keep putting you into a constant financial status of “not having enough money.” Because that’s what you keep telling it!

You need to spend your money on things you absolutely need to grow your business rather than on the personal ‘fun’ stuff like movies, dinners out, fast food and so on. Or maybe you need to make more money, so you can have the fun stuff too. Start thinking from where you want to be, rather than from where you are now. This is the only way you will ever grow your business and this is the only way you will grow as a person.

So say it 10 times fast;  “I can afford it, I can afford it, I can afford it…” and before you know it, you will be coming from a place of I can afford it because it will be ingrained in you. And it will replace the old mantra which I am not going to say, because I will never say those ugly words again! How do I know? Been there, done that girlfriend.

So stop whining and start chanting. Your business depends on it.
